Our Story
Founded in 2017, The Ken Atsuwete Foundation exists to restore hope, dignity and opportunity to disadvantaged widows through compassion, empowerment and practical support.
The Foundation was established in memory of Ken Atsuwete after his untimely death. His passing revealed the immense financial, emotional and social challenges faced by many widows, inspiring a mission to ensure that no widow has to face those burdens alone.
Today, the Ken Atsuwete Foundation supports widows through food assistance, vocational skills training and economic empowerment. We believe that lasting change comes from equipping women with the skills, confidence and opportunities they need to build sustainable futures for themselves and their families.
Our Mission
Our mission is to empower disadvantaged widows by providing practical support, vocational training, food assistance and opportunities that restore dignity, build resilience and create sustainable livelihoods.

Meet Our Founder
Wendy Atsuwete founded the Ken Atsuwete Foundation in 2017 following the death of her husband, Ken Atsuwete. Left widowed at the age of 35 with three young children aged 8, 6 and 22 months, she experienced first-hand the emotional, financial and social challenges that many widows face. Determined to transform personal loss into lasting impact, she established the Foundation to ensure that other widows receive the support, dignity and opportunities they need to rebuild their lives.
Since its establishment, the Foundation has supported more than 100 widows and their families through food assistance and has empowered women with vocational skills including tailoring and catering. Every programme is designed to help widows regain confidence, achieve financial independence and build a brighter future for themselves and their children.
